About the position

Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of RFA Occupational Therapist at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

Description
Implement and maintain occupational therapy rehabilitation and assessment programs and undertake specified client care activities in line with scope of occupational therapists as directed by the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

• Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
• Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Required)
• Certificate: RFA Training (Required)
• Certificate: Supervisory / Management (Required)

Experience and Requirements: 

• 2 Years RFA experience.
• 2 Years Supervisory experience.
• Professional status: Occupational Therapist (HPCSA Registered)

Knowledge and Skills: 

• Computer Literate. (Microsoft Office)
• Populate standard monthly departmental reports and submit to management.
• Conduct regular risk assessments on equipment by means of inspections to ensure safety of users.
• Verify accuracy of patient activities, progress, treatment, observations and medical information captured on database.
• Compile professional reports with recommendations as well as progress reports.
• Conduct assessments using pre-designed tests to assess functional, emotional, psychological, developmental and physical capabilities.
• Plan, design and monitor specific therapeutic programs for individuals using remedial, social and related activities.
• Monitor patient progress against approved programs and adjust program if necessary.
• Assess worker ability to return to work following an intervention and make recommendations to stakeholders.
• In consultation with management, evaluate and assess job requirements and record findings appropriately.
• Assess need for health education programs, develop and manage approved programs.
• Monitor, measure and audit treatment timeframes to determine therapist and treatment effectiveness.
• Populate standard monthly departmental reports and submit to management.
• Conduct regular risk assessments on equipment by means of inspections to ensure safety to users.
• Verify accuracy of patient activities, progress, treatment, observations and medical information captured onto database.
• Compile professional reports with recommendations as well as progress reports.
• Supervision of all RFA Centre staff and ensure compliance to all regulations and procedures.
