Are you a detailed-oriented and analytical professional with a knack for financial accounting and have some accounting/bookkeeping experience in the retail industry along with staff leadership experience? We're seeking a dedicated Accountant with the ability to navigate our accounting landscapes, ensure accuracy in financial documents, and drive the financial accuracy and efficiency of our organization. You'll be leading a team in a dynamic and fast paced environment so we'll need your leadership skills and experience. What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) You will assist in reviewing management accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance. You'll be hands-on with reconciliations and preparing the executive committee (Exco) pack, ensuring that all financial data is meticulously compiled and presented. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing payments to safeguard against inaccuracies, managing VAT returns efficiently, doing the cashbook and engaging in various financial operations that support our business's strategic objectives. This position offers the unique opportunity to influence the financial direction of our organisation, ensuring operational excellence across all financial facets. You'll be leading a small team so it's critical you have management experience and skills. Where you'll be doing it You'll be based at a prominent retail chain's Head Office in Cape Town CBD. After a couple of months of working in office, there will be some flexibility to work from home one or two days a week. They work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. What you'll need There are two possibilities with this role, we'll either look at someone with a Grade 12 and at least 5 years background in financial accounting or bookkeeping or you have a financial degree with minimum 3 years financial accounting / bookkeeping experience but in both possibilities you'll need to have managed staff and have retail industry expeirence. You'll also need a clear understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Competency in Excel and computer literacy is a must, along with reliable transportation to our Cape Town CBD offices. What you'll get There is a basic salary plus contribution to medical aid, pension and a bonus in December.
