Responsible Pharmacist

About the position

Our client is seeking a suitably qualified Responsible Pharmacist to oversee pharmaceutical services and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining safe, effective, and quality-driven pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee pharmaceutical services and daily pharmacy operations.
• Ensure compliance with the Medicines and Related Substances Act and applicable regulations.
• Maintain appropriate standards for the storage, handling, and dispensing of medicines.
• Monitor stock control and pharmaceutical inventory.
• Support medication safety and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide professional guidance to pharmacy and healthcare teams.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Registered as a Responsible Pharmacist.
• 3-5 years relevant experience
• Minimum 1 year experience as a responsible pharmacist
• Previous experience within a hospital or healthcare environment advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
