About the position
We are looking for a Resident Engineer (PrEng., Pr. Tech. or PrTechni) with around 5 or more years experience in construction monitoring and supervision for a 16 month contract in Limpopo.
Requirements:
- 5 years or more years of relevant experience in construction monitoring and supervision.
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification, BTech (Civil) or BEng (Civil).
- Professionally registered as either Pr Techni Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Pr Eng
- Proficiency in construction quality assurance.
- Proficiency in project monitoring (time and cost).
- Interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Model Maker, MS Project and MS Office.
- Valid South African driver’s license.
Main duties include:
- Undertake construction site monitoring activities including QA/QC, inspection of the works, record keeping, approval of materials, issuing of site instructions, and certification of the works.
- Discuss deviations from specified construction materials and procedures with the Design Engineer.
- Oversee field site activities and provide technical advice on construction and design.
- Issue site instructions and correspondence to Employer and Contractor.
- Measurement of quantities and compiling schedules of quantities.
- Liaise with the design engineer where clarifications on drawings, construction methodology and specification are required.
- Attend meetings with clients and contractor.
- Monitor progress on site, evaluating progress reports submitted by the Contractor and providing schedule inputs/feedback to the Contractor to avoid delays.
- Review and approve contract submittals and payment applications to the Contractor.
- Participate in contract close-out activities.
- Conduct progress meetings with the contractor and appropriate personnel and report on any issues, as necessary.
