Resident Engineer

About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident Engineer (Structures) to join our client's team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and manage the structural aspects of a significant building complex construction project in Cape Town.

Role Description:
As our Resident Engineer (Structures), you will be the primary point of contact on-site for all structural engineering matters. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring strict adherence to design drawings, specifications, and relevant building codes.
• Monitoring and supervising all structural construction activities, including reinforced concrete and structural steel work.
• Implementing and enforcing rigorous quality assurance procedures and maintaining comprehensive records.
• Overseeing compliance with safety standards and regulations on site.
• Managing project timelines and proactively identifying and addressing potential delays or issues related to structural works.
• Liaising effectively with the on-site construction team, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Providing clear and concise communication and reports to the office-based design team.
• Collaborating closely with the design team to resolve any technical queries or design clarifications.

Requirements:

• BEng/BTech/BSc Eng in Structural Engineering
• Professional Technologist/Engineer (PrTech/PrEng) registration with the relevant South African professional body.
• At least 8 years of post-registration experience.
• A minimum of 8 years of full-time site experience specifically on commercial building projects involving reinforced concrete and structural steel is essential.
