About the position
Our client in the engineering sector is currently seeking a Roads Resident Engineer to fill a vacant position in Limpopo. As the Resident Engineer, you will be responsible for contract administration, supervision, and quality control of the project site work. Your primary role will be to act as the liaison between the Client, Project Manager, and Contractor on site, reporting to the Lead Engineer (Roads). Your key responsibilities will include ensuring that project implementation adheres to quality, time, and cost requirements while complying with approved construction plans, schedules, and specifications. You will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive communication plan with project stakeholders, managing project meetings, handling project document control, correspondence, file maintenance, and managing site office accounting activities. Additionally, you will be reviewing Contractor claims, providing technical information, making recommendations to the Client, and driving Contractors for project goals regarding cost, schedule, and quality. You will coordinate supervision, coaching, mentoring, and training of junior site staff, quality assurance oversight, and coordination in line with ISO accreditation, and legal, health & safety, and environmental compliance. To be considered for this position, you must have a BSc or BEng or BTech or National Diploma in Civil Engineering and be registered as a Professional Engineer/Technologist/Technician (Pr.Eng / PrTechEng) with ECSA. You must also possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience post-registration in construction, projects site supervision, and contract administration. You should have a thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project-specific, etc.) & Contract Documentation (SAICE GCC, FIDIC, NEC), as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong leadership abilities with excellent oral, interpersonal & written communication skills, well-developed negotiation skills, effective collaboration with a customer-centric approach, efficient teamwork and knowledge-sharing, strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility, and discretion, high resilience and adaptability, effective independent work delivering high-quality results within constraints, proficient conflict management, strong technical aptitude, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as effective report writing, planning, and organizational skills.
