About the position
Background:
- Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited ("WHC") is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences
- WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives
- In addition, WHC offers a range of products and services to Academics

Main purpose of the job:
- To conduct research and analysis in line with the defined requirements
Location:
- Wits School of Public Health, Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
- Develop research and analysis reports by developing a findings report template (if required) or applying the defined template
- Capturing the outputs into the report, supporting outputs with motivations and explanations and draft recommendations as per the defined standards and requirements and within the defined deadlines
- Participate in scoping research and/or projects, define the hypothesis, methodology, approach, reporting requirements and plan by the agreed deadlines
- Manage the project by tracking project implementation against the project plan, addressing performance and quality challenges
- Resolving project implementation challenges, reporting as defined and managing the completion of the project by deadline and within project budget as defined in the project plan and budget
- Conduct research and analysis by applying approved methodology and research and analysis standards, collecting findings, analysing findings, developing research and analysis reports and recommendations and presenting findings by agreed deadline
- Presenting to relevant stakeholders, journals and publications as required
- Provide teaching by preparing for engagements, teaching and evaluating integration of learning post engagements and as per programme and schedule
- Achieve defined post graduate submission targets by monitoring student engagement, addressing post graduate student challenges (where possible) and supporting students to complete requirements by submission deadlines
- Contribute to the research team success by participating in the research project planning, delivering outputs on time, providing support to other team members and aligning with the agreed research approach, methodology and quality on every team project
- Identify research opportunities and risks by evaluating the project and areas of responsibility, evaluating impact of outputs against other outputs and reporting on an ongoing basis
- Contribute to Priceless SA success by providing support as and when required by receiving request, completing tasks and submitting by deadline and in line with defined standards
- Maintain expert levels of knowledge on relevant research and analysis areas and topics by attending learning events, reading and researching relevant and current insights and information and participating in relevant forums on an ongoing basis
Required minimum education and training:
- Masters Degree in Health Economics
Required minimum work experience:
- Minimum 1 year working in a research environment
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research
- Demonstrated writing and communication skills
- Ordered, systematic and analytical approach to research
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Assertive, confident and adaptable
