About the position

Postion Summary:
The Egagasini Node for marine offshore systems was established in 2007 as one of the SAEON Nodes for long term observations. It has grown into an internationally-recognised long-term ocean observing and modelling network. Whilst feeding into the SAEON vision, the Node vision is to advance our understanding of our marine systems through the ability to detect, predict and react to global change in order to create a sustainable ocean environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of project work plans based on project proposal/concept notes and insure all relevant reporting is maintainedMaintain database of project stakeholders across different programmesAssist Science Officer in the running of meetings with stakeholder/working groups/organising committees Assist Ocean & Polar Coordinator and Science Officer with procurement in liaison with the Node AdministratorDevelop outreach material and maintain websites Liaise with staff to ensure promotional material are always up to date, e

Minimum Qualification:

• Masters Degree / NQF 9

Minimum Experience:

• 2-3 years

• MSc in oceanography, marine biology, marine science or related degree

Experience:

• 2 years relevant experience in project management and stakeholder engagement
• Experience in data management will be an added advantage

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of project management and stakeholder engagement toolsKnowledge of recent national and/or international marine and climate science projects active in South Africa would be an advantageSome understanding of working with open science principles would be an advantage
