Our client, an innovative and rapidly growing player in the agricultural sector, based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a Research and Development Chemist to join their dynamic team. This role offers the chance to work on groundbreaking formulations and bring impactful agricultural input products to life.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop, optimise, and scale up formulations for agricultural inputs, including biostimulant-based solutions.
- Conduct stability testing, compatibility studies, and evaluate raw materials to enhance efficacy and shelf life.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product feasibility, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform analytical testing using GC-MS and/or LC-MS and manage formulation documentation to industry standards.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Support the quality control team and assist with extraction and analysis as needed.
- Drive process improvement, manage lab equipment and consumables, and ensure all health and safety standards are met.
- Write scientific reports, manage projects, and maintain organized digital records of all R&D work.
Minimum Requirements:
- Honours Degree in Chemistry, Formulation Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field (Master’s/PhD advantageous).
- Proven hands-on experience with GC-MS and/or LC-MS, and other analytical techniques.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural formulations, raw materials, and regulatory requirements.
- A track record of innovation, problem-solving, and process improvement in a lab or product development setting.
- Excellent scientific writing, technical documentation, and project management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Valid driver’s license required.
