About the position

PURPOSE OF JOB

The research analyst conducts research on topics that are of importance to the institute, its members, the profession, and the accountancy industry at large.

KPA'S & KPI'S

Planning and Development

  • Effective and comprehensive information gathering, analysis recording and dissemination of results
  • Conduct research to inform policies and Accountancy, business advisory and assurance practices
  • Conduct research to introduce new and improved alternatives.
  • Conduct research and produce peer reviewed papers
  • Conducting research in various areas, amongst others:
  • Education and development pedagogies
  • Market related research
  • Global and South African economic trends
  • Small- and medium-sized enterprises (with a focus on GDP contribution and employment creation)
  • Entrepreneurship in South Africa
  • Regulation (and its effect on SMEs & Entrepreneurship)
  • Consumer trends
  • Tertiary institutions (education & skills shortage)
  • Collaboration in Edinburgh Group research publication on 'SMEs in the post-crisis world'
  • Data analysis
  • Economic analysis of Bills published for public comment
  • Produce research papers for publication
  • Produce empirical research output that will add to the body of knowledge
  • Be used in developing or revising qualification streams

Internal Processes

  • Produce at least two research articles per quarter
  • Timely completion of any projects as requested
  • The research analyst interacts to a greater extent with all the executives including the CE

Information Technology and Systems

  • Use IT software products to effectively conduct qualitative and quantitative research
  • Recommend software essential for the achievement of the desired results
  • Manage the virtual sources of research to identify new research trends
  • Update the company website with relevant research output

Job Evaluation Criteria Educational Requirements:

  • Relevant Masters' degree (Research based Masters qualification).

Experience Required

  • 5 years' experience in Research.
  • Education and/or Professional Body experience.
  • Qualification and curriculum development.
