Renewable Energy Project Manager

About the position

We currently have a vacancy available for a Project Manager with one of our Cape Town based clients, specialising in renewable energy. Here you will oversee and direct all aspects of the planning and execution of utility-scale renewable energy plants, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. Coordinate the activities of all parties involved in the project, in accordance with their respective contract terms. Monitor overall project expenditure and schedules, manage any variances, and ensure that key stakeholders are regularly informed of any deviations from the plan, as well as overall project performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage construction and operations teams, ensuring contractor adherence to contractual obligations.
• Manage contractual notices and communications, ensuring timely issuance and compliance with contract terms.
• Review and analyze project and maintenance schedules for accuracy.
• Manage milestone payments, verifying requirements are met in accordance with contracts.
• Manage contractor claims and obtain approval for additional spending.
• Manage expenditure forecasting and ensure timely financial transactions.
• Monitor HSE aspects, identifying risks and addressing them from a contractual and legislative perspective.
• Ensure timely submission and issuance of reports.
• Prepare, review, and analyze reports.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Engineering, QS, or Construction Management-related Degree
• Project management qualification (PMP) or equivalent
• 5-10 years' experience as a Project Manager in the power generation industry, preferably in the renewable energy industry
• Over 3 years of site experience in the Engineering/Construction industry
• Risk management and/or change management experience
