About the position

Postion Summary:
Manage and administer the NRF Payroll, employee benefits and employee rewards ensuring that NRF has a fair and equitable remuneration and reward systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Total Reward Strategy & OperationsDevelop the NRF’s total Reward strategy and implement a group’s Compensation & Benefit frameworkReview the Remuneration policy to align with legislative requirements
  • Manage the implementation of the approved Remuneration policy and procedures;Develop, implement and manage legally complaint remuneration and benefits practices, processes and systems;Builds capacity within HR and management team with regards to remuneration and benefits;Ensure consistency in the application of remuneration and benefits policies, practices and systems throughout the organization;Provide information and update both management and employees on company benefits, policies and procedures;Timeous advising on corporate governance related changes and issues
  • Conduct Payroll Compliance audits Compensation Practice Management Evaluate and compare existing remuneration and benefits to ensure internal and external parity, provide analysis and develop specific recommendations for management review
  • Retirement and risk benefit management – Manage and coordinate all administration pertaining to risk cover (funeral, disability, life cover, executive medicals etc
  • )Manage and coordinate all administration for the medical aid scheme and company insurance (travel insurance, personal accident cover and dreaded disease)
  • Manage workman’s compensation queries
  • Evaluate benefit plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance to relevant legislation and market trends
  • Participate in and conduct salary surveys to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved
  • Keep abreast of local compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure company compliance
  • Prepare and submit reports on remuneration and benefits benchmarking exercises, and other assignments as required;Undertake benchmarking exercises and assignments in remuneration and benefits practices, job evaluation and annual salary reviews
  • Research and develop pay structures based on best practices;Provide an overall view of views of practices and develop a business case for change where deemed necessary
  • Critically analyse remuneration and reward practices and provide comparison with organisations in the market
  • Maintain effective and efficient relationships with external service providers to improve operating efficiencies
  • Manage Broker SLAs, Fund Administrators, and consultant relationshipsEnsure compliance on taxation of benefits and facilitate Provident Fund Management Committee meetings Payroll Management Oversight Manage the payroll function and human resources administration as per the required standards;Develop and manage effective payroll management procedures and systems;Manage payroll processes, salary reviews and incentive schemes
  • Recommend salary review guidelines, coordination of the entire process including training, documentation, distribution and consolidation of review spreadsheet
  • Prepare schedules for payroll upload and staff letters
  • Prepare reports, statistics, graphs and cost analysis
  • Reward AnalyticsAnalysis of the different components of Reward structures and schemes in the group
  • Prepare and present reports on internal equity and external competitiveness
  • Take accountability for and run meaningful Reward related analysis, as required
  • Present the findings on the analysis in a logical and presentable manner
  • Job Evaluation Management & the implementation of the Job Evaluation Policy and Procedures
  • Facilitate and coordinate the job evaluation process across the organisation to ensure internal and external equity
  • Communicate and educate employees regarding the organisation’s job evaluation system and practices
  • Implement and manage job grading structure;Build and maintain Pay Bands, evaluate Jobs, and update Job profilesMonitor internal equity and analyticsUpdate and maintain headcount reports
  • Optimization/Digitization & Ad hoc ProjectsSupport ad-hoc projects and audits across the groupDrive optimization of the C&B/payroll environmentAssist with the implementation of automated workflows

Minimum Qualification:
  • Honours Degree / Post Graduate Qualification / Professional Qualification / NQF 8

Minimum Experience:
  • 8-10 years
  • Post-graduate qualification in Human Resources or equivalentReward certification or SARA certification

Experience:
  • 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits administration and management
  • 5 years’ experience in Job Evaluation – proven track record of leading a job grading project
  • Extensive knowledge of Payroll systems
  • Hands on experience in remuneration function that includes benchmarking, pay design and salary survey
  • Exposure to remuneration analysis and modelling

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge in salary benchmark systemsKnowledge of preparing Reward Standard Operating Procedures
