Registered Nurse Theatre Trained Scrub

About the position

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide safe, effective and high-quality nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative period.
• Perform scrub duties and assist with the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field.
• Ensure that theatre equipment, instruments and supplies are prepared and available for procedures.
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques, infection prevention protocols and theatre standards.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
• Perform accurate instrument, swab and needle counts in accordance with theatre protocols.
• Complete accurate patient documentation and maintain appropriate clinical records.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable healthcare standards, policies and legislation.
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary theatre team.
• Participate in theatre calls during weekdays and weekends as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Four-year General Nursing qualification and current registration with SANC.
• Post Basic Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing (RNQ).
• Minimum of 2 years' relevant Theatre Scrub experience.
• Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required by accredited bodies and applicable health legislation.
• Own reliable transport.
• Willingness to participate in weekday and weekend theatre calls.
• Strong clinical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure within a theatre environment.
