Key Responsibilities:

• Scrub for a variety of surgical procedures while maintaining strict aseptic technique.
• Prepare theatre equipment, instruments, and consumables prior to surgery.
• Assist surgeons and the multidisciplinary team throughout operative procedures.
• Ensure accurate instrument counts and maintain theatre safety protocols.
• Monitor and advocate for patient safety throughout the perioperative journey.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with infection prevention and quality standards.
• Contribute to the efficient running of the operating theatre and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Postgraduate qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing will be advantageous.
• Previous scrub experience within an Operating Theatre is essential.
• Sound knowledge of perioperative nursing principles, sterile technique, and infection prevention practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary theatre environment.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative process.
