Our client within the FMCG sector is seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Regional Sales Manager to lead and direct a high-performing sales team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, developing strategic business plans, strengthening customer relationships, managing profitability, and delivering overall commercial success across the region. This is a senior leadership opportunity suited to an individual with strong sales management expertise and a proven track record within an FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Business Growth

  • Develop and implement short, medium, and long-term sales strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Create and execute direct sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Identify and develop new routes to market and growth opportunities.
  • Drive customer retention and new business development initiatives.
  • Analyze market opportunities and competitor activities to strengthen market position.
  • Review market trends and recommend pricing and commercial strategies.

Sales Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop regional sales teams.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through accountability and performance management.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and retention of sales personnel.
  • Conduct quarterly sales reviews and strategic planning sessions.
  • Ensure performance agreements and KPIs are implemented and achieved.

Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and represent the business at industry events and exhibitions.
  • Arrange customer meetings and engage with key accounts to support growth initiatives.
  • Act as the escalation point for customer concerns and unresolved issues.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and customer satisfaction.

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Prepare annual sales forecasts and financial budgets.
  • Monitor profitability and sales performance against budget targets.
  • Manage departmental budgets and expenditure effectively.
  • Analyze P&L performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare monthly sales forecasts and performance reports.
  • Monitor margin performance and pricing mandates.

Product & Market Development
  • Evaluate sales performance and support product range improvements.
  • Assess viability and costing for new product development projects.
  • Identify market research opportunities to support strategic decision-making.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Key Account teams to execute commercial initiatives.

Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Marketing, Key Accounts, Production, and Finance teams.
  • Liaise with operational departments regarding forecasts and strategic planning.
  • Maintain strong communication and alignment across all sales regions.

Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Sales, Marketing, Commerce, Business Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years' management experience in a similar senior sales leadership role.
  • Proven experience within the FMCG industry.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience with P&L formulation and analysis.
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency with advanced Excel capability.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong people management and leadership capability.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.
