About the position

A Manufacturer and Distributor of Invitro Diagnostic/Molecular Diagnostic Systems requires the above to be responsible for the implementation and execution of commercial strategies within their territory to protect and grow the existing customer base and revenue generation, to further expand revenue generation and market share through the development of new customer relationships.
Minimum requirements for the role:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology, virology, molecular biology or closely related field is preferred.
  • Previous sales experience having worked within the IVD medical diagnostics sales or laboratory market, as well as a track record of commercial execution and excellence in achievement of revenue targets and key strategic objectives is essential.
  • In the absence of sales experience, a candidate with strong demonstrable applications support experience with IVD molecular diagnostic systems and assays will be considered. 
  • Sales experience with molecular diagnostic and sample-to-result IVD solutions related to Tuberculosis, HIV, sexually transmitted infections, respiratory pathogens and other infectious diseases is preferred.
  • Previous sales experience having worked in Africa including onboarding, maintenance, regular engagement with 3rd party distribution partners and regulatory compliance is preferred.
  • Must have engaged with key stakeholders at regional/provincial/national level within focus segments (public and private diagnostic pathology laboratories, Ministries of Health, academic and research institutions, NGO’s).
  • Experience having worked on Sales Force CRM and SAP ERP systems.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certified organisations is preferred.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and executing commercial strategies within their territory to protect and grow the existing customer base and revenue generation, to further expand revenue generation and market share through the development of new customer relationships.
  • Handling both public and private sector engagement within South Africa and African territories, as well as engagement and management of 3rd party distribution partners in African territories.
  • Training and providing applications support for all products within the Infection Diagnostics portfolio, troubleshooting and resolution of customer queries/complaints/challenges, gathering of market intelligence and competitor insights, ensuring regulatory compliance in all territories, development of revenue and product forecasts, and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining positive business, customer, key stakeholder and third-party distributor relationships through regular visitation and contact, with a strong emphasis on proactive engagement and the development of new business relationships.
  • Presenting, promoting and selling products and services using solid, logical arguments and supporting collateral materials to existing and prospective customers.
  • Actively driving new business development by generating new leads and building a sales pipeline in South Africa and assigned African territories, including conducting joint visits to Ministries of Health, National Reference Laboratories and key stakeholders in conjunction with third-party distribution partners.
  • Providing and coordinating applications support and training to existing and new customers, while coordinating support to African customers with third-party distribution partners.
  • Achieving monthly targets and outcomes within schedule by executing defined sales strategies, engaging monthly with third-party distribution partners to discuss market trends and opportunities, and attending relevant conferences and symposiums.
  • Completing and submitting tenders and requests for quotations (RFQs) within required deadlines.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance in assigned territories in conjunction with third-party distribution partners.
  • Attending meetings, conference calls, sales and marketing events, industry trade meetings and training sessions to remain informed of latest developments and provide relevant market insights.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
