About the position

Purpose:
To promote, sell and distribute the company's products and services to customers and contribute to the competitiveness of the company by implementing and monitoring tender and sales policies. The incumbent will be responsible for acquiring new customers and expanding the customer base. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers is vital. To understand the needs and preferences of clients, provide solutions, and build trust to foster long-term relationships. By meeting certain targets is a key performance indicator, and the success is measured by the ability to meet the set goals.
The incumbent needs to have in-depth knowledge of the products and services that the company provides and stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and the competitors. Collaborating with internal teams is crucial to provide valuable insights from the field to improve products, enhance marketing strategies and address customer concerns.
Effectively addressing customer inquiries, providing post-sales support, and ensuring customer satisfaction to build brand loyalty.
The candidate needs to have extensive knowledge of sales strategies and customer relationships with a minimum experience of 5 years of working in the same environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and lead generation: Identify and research potential customers and generate new leads through various methods, such as cold calling, networking, and referrals.
  • Customer engagement and relationship building: Establish and build relationships with customers. Understand the needs and requirements of customers through effective communication.
  • Products presentation and demonstration: Conduct presentations to showcase the features and benefits of the products and services. Demonstrating how the offering meets the customer needs.
  • Quotations/Tenders, negotiation and closing: Accurately prepare quotations and tenders. Negotiating prices, terms, and conditions to meet both customer and company needs.
  • Achieving sales targets: Working towards closing sales deals and achieving sales targets assigned by the company.
  • Market and competitor analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitors. Using market intelligence to position the company's products and services effectively.
  • Customer services and post-sales support: Address customer inquiries and concerns. Provide post-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaboration with internal teams: Coordinate with internal teams, such as marketing, engineering, production, finance, and the rigging teams. Share insights from the field to improve products and services.
  • Sales reporting and documentation: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, new and current project status updates. Prepare regular sales reports for management.
  • Continuous learning and professional development: Stay updated on product knowledge, industry trends, and sales techniques. Attend training programs when necessary to enhance sales skills.
  • Adhere to sales processes and policies: Follow established sales processes and adhere to company policies. Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards in sales practices.
  • Travel: Travelling to sites, visiting clients, attending site meetings, and delivering any office requirements are some of the travelling responsibilities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tech. Eng. Degree or BSc Eng. Degree in Mechanical- or Civil (structural) Engineering would be advantageous. Minimum 5 years' experience in technical sales.
  • Familiarity with the industry in which the company operates is beneficial. Knowledge of the market trends, and the specific challenges and opportunities in the industry can give a Sales Representative a competitive edge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Need to effectively convey information about products and services and engage in clear and persuasive communication with clients.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with customers is crucial. Should be personable, empathetic, and skilled in understanding customer needs.
  • Effective negotiation skills are important for successful deal closures. Should be able to navigate and address customer concerns while maintaining a win-win situation for both the customer and the company.
  • A track record of meeting sales targets would be advantageous.
  • The ability to adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs, and product updates is valuable. Sales representatives should be flexible and open to learning.
  • Be professional all the time and be able to work in a team and independently.
  • Effective time management skills are crucial to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Should operate with integrity, honesty, accuracy and in compliance with company policies and legal standards.
  • Must be familiar with all Microsoft and Google programs for effective quoting, reporting, and compiling tender requirements.

Remuneration

  • Market related salary and benefits
  • Cost to Company Ranges: R45,000.00 -R55,000.00 Per month
  • Short term incentive and bonus in line with Company policy
