Reefer Technician

About the position

Purpose of the Role:
Reefer Technicians are to provide their services to the Depot in the preparing and repairing reefer containers or equipment for bookings/ shipment (in or out of season) as per agreed standards and client requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provides required services to the depot preparing and repairing of all reefer type container equipment as per the required standards as set out by the clients and/or customers.
• Maintain reefer containers in a clean and serviceable condition by ensuring that the machinery end of the container is and all its functions are cleaned where applicable.
• Carrying out physical repairs and/or faults find the machinery and equipment as per the standards set out in the applicable repair manuals and/or per client requirements.
  Reefers
• The reefer technicians will be called out to attend to faulty reefer containers on board vessel or the terminals or pack stations, or at clients, wherever applicable.
• Technical abilities and training of other technicians within the reefer department.
• Sharing information on the technical aspects to the client repair standards and or the repair manuals. Common fault finding and what to look out for etc.
• To carry out all pre-trip functions/operations. With the assistant wherever possible and/or as directed.
• Set Pre-trip temperature settings prior to being dispatched.
  Shipments
• Assist with the availability of reefer spare part, replenishment of stock and accountability.
• Maintains a Safe and healthy Environment and ensure compliance to the Safety Regulations or standards.
• Ensures that the organizations standards in so far as hazards, toxic materials are identified, and general safety standards are complied with.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5 years experience as a Reefer Technician
• 5 years experience conducting pre-trip inspection of empty refrigerated marine containers
• 5 years experience in conducting repairs to containers on the Depot.
• Refrigeration trade test is an added advantage
