RED SEAL DIESEL MECHANIC

About the position

We are looking for a pro-active, hardworking problem solver with an exceptional work ethic to take up a key role of DIESEL MECHANIC at an established and well-known company in the Waste Management & Transport Logistics Sector.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that company trucks are kept in line with legal requirements and company policies i.e. roadworthy etc.
• Servicing of company trucks to predefined checklists
• Attend to breakdowns and carry out the necessary repairs on trucks
• Apply Health & Safety rules and regulations in all aspects of job
• Maintain a safe and clean working place at all times
• Administer regular reporting to management regarding breakdowns, services etc
• Perform ancillary duties to the above as determined by management on an ongoing basis
• Carry out scheduled & unscheduled maintenance and repairs to a fleet of truck (Medium Heavy)
• Carry out Fault diagnostics & basic electrical repairs
• Test driving of vehicles
• Adherence to Health & Safety requirements
• Experienced in performing the following tasks:
  • Minor and Major Services
  • Engine removal and replacement
  • Engine Strip & Assemble
  • Gearbox removal and replacement
  • Braking Systems
  • Steering
  • Suspension
  • Differentials
  • Electrical Diagnostics
  • Mechanical Diagnostics

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be: Red Seal Trade tested diesel mechanic.  
• Must have: Previous working experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Experience must include diesel mechanics related to trucks, and yellow plant.
• Physically fit and healthy
• Valid Drivers license  
• Must read / write & speak English
• Good communication skills
• Good computer skills
• Must be proactive, self-motivated and hard working
• Must be a team player
• Ability to work long hours and over weekends/standby when required
• Ability to problem solve and think outside the box.
• Strong work ethic
