About the position

JOB PURPOSE
To effectively and accurately perform the reconciliations process for complex Cash, Position and Data recons, and manage the exceptions queue by conducting and following through on investigations and escalating any queries when required to ensure all item entries are matched and breaks are timeously resolved.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions
Compare flows for high volume and / or complex manual recons and mark up any unmatched items to identify breaks that need to be investigated and resolved.
Complete required checks and match complex item breaks that have been resolved to ensure the recons process is complete and the item drops off to the resolved batch.
Conduct an in-depth investigation and root cause analysis of all required item breaks to understand underlying causes and identify key stakeholders to assist in resolving unmatched items.

Continuously develop and build on an intermediate understanding of the trade life cycle (from entry to exit) including roles and responsibilities, relevant recon systems (e.g. Intellimatch, Murex Core, MS Office), and expected outputs that informs the recons process to understand and identify root causes within the recons value chain.
Continuously stay abreast of the various product, asset class and trade instruments, as well as intermediate recon knowledge on procedures, risks, systems and processes to effectively and accurately perform complex recons, conduct investigations, and interact with key stakeholder.
Coordinate regular meetings and liaise with relevant teams and stakeholders (internal and external) when required to query complex item breaks and provide insights on the root cause to effectively escalate issues and resolve item breaks.
Critically evaluate processes, procedures and systems during the recons process to identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement ensuring the function performs in an optimal and efficient manner.
Execute the 4-eye principle by checking and validating partially matched item breaks, and update comments of complex recon breaks that cannot be immediately resolved to partially match items that are awaiting further action.
Explore potential source input, identify and analyse key source input, key matching and risk criteria to inform the design of  reconciliations for new products or improvement of existing reconciliations.
Gather and / or extract all required data and information from relevant sources to effectively and accurately prepare complex recons for automated / manual matching.
Provide training and on the job guidance to new team members to build capability and enhance skills to perform day-to-day operation duties.
Raise any incidents that have been identified during the root cause analysis by preparing required reports to ensure the all incidents are investigated and root causes appropriately addressed.
Review and validate large mark-ups and match complex item breaks that have many- to-one matching but do not require any investigation / root cause analysis to quickly resolve the exception and enable the item to drop off the outstanding batch.
Review automated reporting to effectively highlight and manage key recon breaks based n aging and value.
Stay abreast of the regulatory environment in which CIB and GMO / SBGS operates, and adhere to all relevant policies, processes, procedures, regulations and work instructions, to ensure that work is carried out in a consistent and standard manner, risk is mitigated, and relevant regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
Track and monitor complex item breaks and update comments on relevant systems ensuring all working instructions and escalation procedures are followed to ensure the item break is timeously resolved and escalated when required.
