About the position
Our leading manufacturing client is looking for an experienced Raw Materials Store Team Leader to manage an offsite raw materials and secondary packaging operation in KwaZulu-Natal.
Key Performance Areas
- Overall supervision of the offsite Raw Materials Store, including secondary packaging and divider cleaning operations.
- Ensure correct batching and strict FIFO management of all materials, including cataloguing of regrind and issuing oldest stock first.
- Oversee the goods returns process for secondary packaging, including:
- Customer returns
- Inspection for damage and scrap
- Notification to the business of damages
- Return of acceptable stock
- Identify control risks and implement mitigation measures (e.g. stock counts, stock movements, and process controls).
- Supply secondary packaging to the main site, ensuring all requirements are delivered on time.
- Conduct weekly, monthly, and annual stock takes, including unplanned spot checks.
- Receipt and administer raw materials stock, including all SAP transactions.
- Oversee divider cleaning operations and ensure sufficient divider availability for the business.
- Take responsibility for stock variances relating to raw materials and packaging.
- Perform incoming inspection checks for packaging to ensure specifications are met, including:
- Pallet dimensions
- Secondary packaging dimensions and artwork
- Ensure correct handling of stock and that all spillages and breakages are reported.
- Manage maintenance of offsite equipment, including divider cleaners, floor cleaners, and other operational equipment.
- Ensure shuttle trucks are loaded timeously.
- Maintain high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Oversee waste management operations, including:
- Collection from plants
- Separation in conjunction with waste partners
- Supplier collections
- Ensure all documentation relating to invoicing, receipts, and stock movements complies with ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 standards.
- Day-to-day team management of divider cleaners, GRV processors, forklift drivers, packers, and cleaners.
- Drive continuous training and development, manage individual and team performance, and ensure compliance with HR and IR policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment with excellent housekeeping standards.
Key Competencies & Requirements
- Post-matric qualification in Supply Chain or a related field.
- Proven track record within an FMCG supply chain environment.
- Working knowledge of SAP will be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-disciplined, driven, and results-focused.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships quickly and effectively.
