Purpose Statement
To monitor and maintain output and quality standards through the effective leading and managing of the raw material team and raw material management
Position Raw Material / Inventory Control Supervisor
Raw Material personnel, inclusive but not limited to grinders and mixers.
2. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position (please provide a short description under each heading/output)
1. Raw Material / Inventory Control Management
Responsible for raw material control and stock management
Issue raw material to production and record all transactions of raw material movement
Processing requisitions for purchasing of raw material, and follow up on orders
Receipt raw material when received from supplier
Implement internal systems to improve material control
Order and book masterbatch
Ensure control and recording of output, down times and deviations
Conduct regular stock take
Inspect raw material waste
Conduct assessments on the usage of raw material in production and feedback to the General Manager
Prepare raw material for trials
2. Personnel Management
Supervise raw material employees in line with company policies, procedures and industry collective agreement
Responsible to lead, motivate, train and control any located persons
Ensure that subordinates record and report quality problems immediately
Monitor and direct workflow of subordinates
Hold regular performance reviews to discuss performance against objectives, counselling employees where performance is not in line with the standards
Motivate team to develop with a focus on ongoing improvement. Implement good ideas, give credit where due, support, counsel and discipline where necessary
Practical hands-on passing on of skill (Show and do)
Guide team to ensure that members deliver output and performance in line with company quality standards
Communicate and confirm values and goals and clarify roles on an ongoing basis
Proactively communicate consequences of misconduct to team members
Conduct discipline and counselling where necessary, staying within the limits of orderly actions in terms of the disciplinary code
3. Health and Safety
Ensure organisational health and safety standards and safe working practices are maintained
Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues
Report any accidents, incidents and near misses 4. Food (Product) Safety:
Food safety standards are site specific and at these sites employees should: o Apply the site’s food safety principles and standards o Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager o Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in
relation to the Company’s FSMS (Food Safety Management System)
5. Quality
Ensure quality standards and principles are maintained 6. Reporting and Administration
Ensure shift handover takes place daily
Ensure production bookings are completed correctly
Ensure daily audits on quality / visual inspections take place
Data capturing on Sage X3 system
Record waste and forward to the General Manager
Record the following information on raw material bags & administration documentation:
o Percentage loading o Machine allocation o Masterbatch code & colour
7. General
Perform additional tasks as required (e.g. help each other out if needed)
Ensure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available
Inform yourself about and apply the company's principles and standards

3. JOB EVALUATION CRITERIA
A) Knowledge and Skills
Secondary Education Grade 12
Tertiary Education (including Diplomas, Certificates and Degrees)
NQF 4 Supervisory Management Qualification Certificate/Diploma in Raw Material or related qualification
Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry
