About the position

Red Ember Recruitment are seeking to appoint a experienced Quantity Surveyors to join a professional team in Cape Town. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in private sector developments, with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience working at a professional quantity surveying firm. The role involves delivering comprehensive cost management services on commercial and mixed-use construction contracts from inception to final account.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies.
  
• Manage tender processes including BOQ preparation, evaluation, and adjudication.
  
• Administer construction contracts (e.g., JBCC, FIDIC), including valuations and progress payments.
  
• Perform cost control and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  
• Conduct site inspections and attend project meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  
• Compile monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
  
• Prepare and agree final accounts with contractors.
  
• Provide contractual and procurement advice to clients.
  

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a professional quantity surveying environment.
  
• Proven track record on commercial and mixed-use development projects in the private sector.
  
• BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution
  
• SACQSP registration (PrQS) is preferable.
  
• Proficient in QS software such as WinQS, BuildSmart, or equivalent.
  
• Strong understanding of local construction contracts and procurement processes.
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or as part of a team.
