About the position
Our client is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor to join their Cape Town team. This opportunity is suited to a motivated professional with solid construction and engineering experience, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage cost and contractual matters in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly payment certificates, including variations and claims
- Compile monthly cost reports, cash flows, budgets, and forecasts
- Monitor project costs and implement effective cost-control measures
- Ensure contractual procedures and company processes are followed
- Conduct risk and value management activities
- Advise on procurement strategies
- Prepare tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities
- Evaluate and negotiate variations, extension of time claims, and contractual entitlements
- Manage subcontractor commercial matters
- Monitor financial performance, cost forecasting, and cash flow
- Allocate work, review outputs, and mentor junior team members
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience within the construction or engineering environment
- Experience within a medium to large construction company will be advantageous
- Proven experience in financial reporting, cost forecasting, and cash management
- Strong contractual and commercial knowledge
- Experience with CCS is essential
- Sound working knowledge of GCC, FIDIC, JBCC and/or NEC contracts
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within construction
- Valid driver's licence and own vehicle will be advantageous
- Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure
