Quantity Surveyor at Barnwood Limited

About the position

We are looking to recruit an experienced quantity surveyor to manage all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects, ensuring value for money while maintaining quality and compliance with statutory requirements. The Quantity Surveyor will oversee cost control, procurement, and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
• Perform risk, value management, and cost control.
• Provide advice on procurement strategy and contractual matters.
• Measure and value work done on-site.
• Track variations and submit change orders.
• Forecast costs and monitor project budget.
• Certify subcontractor payments and manage final accounts.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure that all work complies with relevant legal and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Valid license to be able to drive in the UK.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar QS role within the construction industry.
• Proven track record of managing project costs on residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with JCT or other standard forms of contract.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset.
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Microsoft 365, Procore etc).

Working Arrangements

• Office-based with regular site visits.
• May require occasional travel depending on project location.
• Day shift: Monday to Friday, No weekends.
• Location: Gloucester, united Kingdom. Candidates must be willing to relocate before starting work (required).

Please note the salary is a guide and will be subject to exchange rate changes. This will meet the Skilled Worked VISA standard rates.
