About the position
An established construction and renovation company is seeking a motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join its Tender and Quantity Surveying department. This role offers exposure to cost management, tendering, procurement, and contract administration, with opportunities to grow within the South African construction environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with cost management including estimates, budgets, valuations, and final accounts
- Support tendering activities by sourcing opportunities, analysing documents, preparing BOQs, and pricing submissions
- Procurement support through sourcing suppliers/subcontractors and ensuring compliance with CIDB, BBBEE, and SARS requirements
- Contract administration for JBCC and FIDIC contracts, monitoring variations and claims
- Measurement and valuations including site take-offs, BOQ updates, and payment certificates
- Compliance monitoring with OHSA and SACQSP guidelines
- Reporting and documentation including cost reports, tender summaries, and pricing breakdowns
- Site coordination with engineers, subcontractors, and site teams, attending briefings and monitoring progress
Requirements:
- Matric and 2 to 3 years of experience relevant to Quantity Surveying or Construction sector
- Valid driver's license and some driving experience (site visits required)
- Familiarity with South African construction regulations and industry standards
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Understanding of tender pricing and cost structures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and CCS
- Attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Proactive, eager to learn, and accountable
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Good work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines.
