About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
A highly skilled, analytical & problem-solving Quality Technician with at least 3-5 years' work experience in the Automotive industry is sought by a Supplier of innovative customized products to join its PE division. Your role will entail developing and maintaining measuring systems to ensure quality adheres to both national and global standards, analyse, and implement corrective action to qualify discrepancies while training Technicians to provide a world-class measuring service. The ideal candidate will possess a National Diploma/NN Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Trade Test Certification as a Tool Maker with a minimum of 3-5 years' work experience within the Automotive environment. You will also require 2 years' work experience with parts, assemblies' alignment, set-up and Dimensional Evaluation, have a solid understanding of Metrology Symbols & Elements (VIM), 3D interpretation of CAD models and technical drawings, CMM or CNC Programming and practical working experience of Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Instruments.
DUTIES:
- Develop, introduce, monitor and maintain measuring systems, to provide a quality and pro-active service as measured against national and international standards, to all internal and external customers regarding Series measurements and part development to ensure the quality of the product.
- Analyse, initiate, co-ordinate and implement corrective action to qualify discrepancies reported to the department to ensure a timeous and efficient service to customers within the parameters of acceptable quality standards.
- Maintain measuring equipment in his area in order to ensure that International and in-house standards are adhered to.
- Assist, train and supervise Trainees, Junior Technicians and new employees (skills, attitudes, behaviour, and computer knowledge) in order to develop a strong team of Metrology Technicians who will provide a world class measuring service.
- Prepare and supply measurement and SPC data for Management decisions and evaluation.
- Dimensional calibration of company fixture, gauges, measuring and torque testing instrument and maintain its history to guarantee its accuracy throughout its entire service life to encompass the quality of the vehicle and components in accordance with ISO17025.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications -
- National Diploma/ NN Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Trade Test Certificate Tool Maker.
Experience/Skills -
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant working experience within the Automotive environment.
- At least 2 years working experience with parts, assemblies' alignment, set-up and Dimensional Evaluation.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Metrology Symbols & Elements (VIM).
- Practical working experience of Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Instruments.
- 3D interpretation of CAD models and technical drawings.
- Good understanding of communication between Measuring facilities and Software.
- CMM or CNC Programming.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office & CAD).
