About the position
An established engineering and fabrication organisation is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead its Quality and SHERQ function. This role carries responsibility for quality governance across fabrication, welding, inspection, testing and project execution environments.
The position requires a hands on quality professional with strong experience in welding qualification, international fabrication codes and large scale engineering projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a quality management role within engineering or fabrication
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and welding quality standards
- Experience with international codes (AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, ASME IX)
- Experience with welding procedure qualification and welder certification
- Proven exposure to fabrication quality assurance and inspection
- Strong reporting, stakeholder management and leadership capability
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Quality Department including inspectors, interns and administrative staff
- Ensure fabricated items comply with internal quality standards and international codes such as ASME IX, AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.6
- Develop, implement and qualify welding procedures and welder certifications
- Oversee quality testing activities including pressure testing, dye penetrant testing and other NDT methods
- Maintain complete quality documentation and inspection records
- Work closely with the fabrication workshop to improve automation, resource planning and process efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication and quality processes
- Produce monthly executive reports covering quality performance, risks, budget and departmental growth
- Manage quality aspects of large scale engineering projects including processing plants and heavy equipment
- Support broader project management activities including procurement, scheduling, supplier and client liaison
