About the position
We are seeking a detail-driven Quality Controller to join a food manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring incoming raw materials, ingredients and packaging meet the required quality, safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming raw spices, liquid ingredients and packaging materials.
- Conduct vehicle and delivery audits before offloading.
- Verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs), Certificates of Conformance (COCs) and supplier documentation.
- Collect samples and conduct basic quality tests, including pH and moisture testing.
- Perform sensory assessments of taste, colour and aroma.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials.
- Maintain accurate quality and traceability records.
- Coordinate supplier returns, product holds and corrective actions.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12.
- National Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology or Quality Control is preferred.
- 1–3 years' experience in a food, or FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of GMP, GLP and HACCP principles.
- Basic computer literacy, including Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
