NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Heavy automotive industry experience (non-neg).
- 7 + years’ experience in a similar role within the automotive industry.
- ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 (non-neg).
- Code 14 license (non-neg).
- HCV experience.
- OEM regulations experience.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Our client, a well-established organisation within the heavy automotive industry based in Pietermaritzburg, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Auditor to join their team.
This opportunity is exclusively open to candidates with proven experience within the heavy automotive sector. Please note that all non-negotiable requirements must be met in order for applications to be considered.
Minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7 + years’ experience in the heavy commercial vehicle industry.
- ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 internal auditor certification (preferred).
- Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence.
- Familiarity with South African regulatory requirements, including NRCS and homologation.
- Automotive quality management experience, preferably within heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs).
- OEM regulations experience.
- Experience in quality management of SKD/CKD operations (preferred).

Duties and responsibilities:
- Conduct in-process and end-of-line quality audits.
- Verify compliance with OEM assembly standards and work instructions.
- Perform audits on incoming CKD kits and critical components and ensure documentation is completed accurately for all claims and reports.
- Support the Technical Lead in reviewing and managing OEM build instructions.
- Identify quality non-conformances and raise corrective actions.
- Support containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Maintain quality records, audit reports, and compliance evidence.
- Support vehicle homologation and regulatory inspections.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and problem-solving teams.
- Train all staff on quality standards and defect awareness.
- Ensure that key quality matters documented in SOPs are updated in accordance with build instructions and associated OEM revisions.
- Maintain accurate records of quality findings, interventions, and improvements using the SAP MES/MRP system.
