About the position
A well-established food manufacturing company requires the above to coordinate and handle all QA activities related to the implementation, maintenance and running of BRCGS for the company's packaging food safety system as well as planning and scheduling all internal audits.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A National Diploma in Packaging Technology, Diploma in Polymer Chemistry, Packaging or Plastic Technology or related is preferred.
- Must have a proven track record in the Quality Assurance environment.
- Relevant experience working in a QA (Quality Assurance) Production / Test laboratory environment, physically testing the printed packaging & multi-layered PA/PE films.
- Must have an understanding of flexographic printing, extrusion processes and flexible packaging manufacturing.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as good organizational skill.
- Previous experience having worked on ISO 22000 or BRCGS or a related for Packaging and packaging materials, SANS 10330 – HACCP and SANS 10049- Food hygiene management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Coordinating all activities related to product testing and quality maintenance as well as ensuring the implementation and maintenance of GMP’s, HACCP and good hygiene/housekeeping practices.
- Monitoring the quality of all products being manufactured in the Packaging Plant and correcting defects. Emphasis on process control for all products, ensuring inspection of the Packed rolls.
- Maintaining an awareness of GMP practices, sanitation program, and operations to help management resolve problems.
- Coordinating and directing all activities related to product safety, product in process, and finished product.
- Handling of Customer Complaints investigation as and when necessary.
- Monitoring daily quality print-offs as well as the online QC reports and must report all non-conformances immediately to both the Production Manager and Quality Manager.
- Conducting regular in-process audits to ensure that the production associates adhere to the processes as laid out in the relevant product specification.
- Participating in weekly Hygiene/Housekeeping, GMP, sanitation and safety inspections.
- Following up on corrective actions to ensure that the required corrective actions have been implemented.
- Participating in verification of plant equipment- scales, gauges, thermometers, Vernier’s and rulers.
