About the position
A construction company requires the above to manage quality control documentation, records, and reporting for mining steel pipeline welding projects.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Diploma/degree in welding, quality, engineering, or a related discipline (advantageous if welding-qualified).
- The company is happy to consider a Junior Quantity Surveyor (QS) with exposure to QC for the role.
- Previous experience having worked in steel and plastic pipeline construction projects is essential.
- Previous knowledge and work experience working within a safety, QC and welding environment is preferred.
- Previous experience having worked within the steel piping industry is essential for the role.
- Previous exposure handling all qc administration with regards to welding of steel and plastic piping is preferred.
- Familiarity with steel and plastic welding inspection requirements is preferred.
- Previous work experience having worked with major construction or mining companies with regards to steel pipelines.
- Medically fit for duty (fitness tests as per mine/construction site entry standards).
- Strong understanding of welding principles and qc procedures for steel and plastic piping.
- Familiarity with construction site safety requirements and mine entry compliance processes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing quality control documentation, records, and reporting for mining steel pipeline welding projects.
- Inspecting welding work on steel and plastic piping to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Supporting site teams in implementing and maintaining qc procedures.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of quality documentation, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and weld maps.
- Ensuring welding consumables, materials, and procedures comply with project requirements.
- Conducting site audits and inspections in line with company, client, and regulatory standards.
- Monitoring subcontractors and team compliance with qc and safety requirements.
- Reporting any quality deviations or non-conformances and supporting corrective action.
- Collaborating with site supervisors, engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment on quality standards.
- Overseeing QC administration for teams of welders and site workers.
- Travelling to various sites, including cross-border assignments as required.
