About the position
My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a QA-SHEQ Manager to join their team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Quality Management or related field
- SHEQ-related certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 - advantageous)
- Internal Auditor certification (advantageous)
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in textile QA, garment and fabric production
- Strong knowledge of wet & dry garment processing techniques
- Experience in yarn sourcing, fabric processing and bulk production environments
- Proven experience managing cross-functional production teams and external vendors
- Experience implementing and maintaining quality systems and compliance standards
- Proficient in PLM systems, Microsoft Excel, and data analytics tools
- Fluency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken - strict requirement)
- Willingness to travel frequently to mills, dye houses, processing plants and factories
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement company-wide QA and SHEQ strategies
- Establish and maintain ISO-compliant systems
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across R&D to shipment
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety and ethical standards
- Oversee product lifecycle quality from sampling to bulk dispatch
- Oversee yarn sourcing and fabric development processes
- Monitor wet processing (dyeing, washing, finishing) and dry processing (embellishment, distressing, heat treatments)
- Ensure lab dips, bulk fabric approvals and garment testing meet standards
- Work closely with R&D and production teams to troubleshoot quality issues
- Evaluate and audit suppliers and mills
- Build strong relationships with textile vendors
- Lead and develop internal QA and SHEQ teams
- Conduct vendor performance reviews and corrective action management
- Provide technical guidance to production and sourcing teams
- Implement in-line and end-of-line inspections
- Reduce rejection rates, reworks and claims
- Manage AQL inspections and pre-shipment audits
- Ensure traceability and documentation control
- Oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
- Analyse quality KPIs (defect rates, claims, returns, supplier scorecards)
- Prepare monthly QA and SHEQ performance reports
- Present findings and improvement plans to the Operations Executive
- Monitor cost-of-quality metrics and identify savings opportunities
