About the position

Our client, a leading mining company is looking to appoint a QA/QC Officer for a 12-month renewable contract position based in Kathu, Northern Cape.
The purpose of the role is to assist supervisors in complying with the QA/QC systems requirements and undertaking and participating in inspections, audits, investigations, leadership interactions, and interventions in the workplace, among other duties.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Recognised Trade Test Certificate or related qualification
  • N4 Technical qualification (NQF5)
  • ISO 9001 training
  • 5 years' experience in mining and construction
  • Internal quality auditing experience
  • Computer literacy skills in MS Office
  • Valid South African driver's license
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Project quality management exposure
  • Engineering /Manufacturing experience
  • Construction/Engineering Project environment exposure
  • Construction management experience
  • Implementation of ISO 9001
  • Must be medically fit
  • Passport 360 and ISOMETRIX (Advantageous)

Main duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct inspections as per the designs from consultants and/or engineers to ensure that the product is fit for purpose
  • Be able to travel between two mines and Gauteng for inspections when required
  • Monitoring of construction activities, perform inspection, witness tests and measurements
  • Ensure contractors adhere to standards and regulations.
  • Ensure correct material used is correct
  • Ensure correct and necessary tests are done
  • Conduct factory release to ensure that material is according to standard before dispatching to site
  • Review completion of information e.g. QCP's, data books, drawings etc.
  • Participate in scheduled audits to ensure system and process integrity
  • Assist Quality Manager in the maintenance of the Quality Management system and in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015
  • The control and distribution of procedures, obsolete documents and the amendments thereof, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015
  • Assist the Quality Manager with the control of nonconforming test work/ corrective action report forms/ evidence of corrective action
  • Maintain the complaints system by ensuring Corrective Actions, Root cause and evidence of actions are filed accordingly. Prepare weekly feedback reports to management
  • To assist the Quality Manager with compiling client survey reports
  • To coordinate internal audit programs per the requirements of the Internal Audit Schedule
  • Provide support to document control and improvement requests within the quality management system
  • Maintaining record and document keeping, such that work is clearly and easily auditable, and traceable within the guidelines of ISO 9001:2015
