PUMP SUPERVISOR – MINING OPERATIONS

We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Pump Supervisor to take ownership of all dewatering and pumping systems across a dynamic mining operation. This role is critical to ensuring safe, uninterrupted production by managing water effectively across pits, plant, and infrastructure.

?? Your Role
As Pump Supervisor, you will oversee the full lifecycle of pumping systems—from installation and operation to maintenance and performance. You will ensure water is controlled, risks are mitigated, and mining activities continue without disruption.
?? Key Responsibilities
- Lead all pump operations, including starting, stopping, relocating, and optimising performance
- Ensure effective pit dewatering and water level control to support mining activities
- Monitor pump performance, pressures, and flow rates
- Oversee preventative and breakdown maintenance of pumps, pipelines, and valves
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues, leaks, blockages, and failures
- Supervise and manage pump operators and support teams
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and on-the-job training
- Enforce compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA)
- Support flood prevention, stormwater management, and emergency pumping
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and maintenance records
- Manage equipment, fuel usage, and pump infrastructure assets
?? What You Bring
- Strong experience with diesel, electric, centrifugal, submersible, and slurry pumps
- Solid understanding of mine dewatering systems and water management principles
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage workloads effectively
- Good mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of pipeline systems, valves, and pump performance curves
- Strong communication and reporting capability
?? Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 2–5+ years’ experience in pump operations within mining or industrial environments
- Supervisory experience (advantageous)
- Pump Operations Certificate (advantageous)
- Valid driver’s licence and mine medical fitness
