About the position

Purpose:
Develop and implement robust public relations and effective communications strategy to promote the business. Responsible for research on Local policy and reporting on government affairs. Will be required to engage in commercial negotiations.
Education, Experience and Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Public relations or communication
  • +5 years relevant experience in corporate PR
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of corporate governance
  • Understanding of organisation policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of media dynamics
  • Knowledge the global economy and markets
  • Communications and social media trends
  • Finance and people management
  • Attention to details
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (Oral and written)
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Creative thinking
  • Legal background
  • Must have keen eyes for details and strategy, as well as understanding SA political, policy and law-making processes.
  • A good understanding of South African inter-government relations
  • French and Or Mandarin speaking will be a great advantange


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct detailed stakeholder mapping, profiling and facilitate engagement
  • Perform detailed analysis on local political and economic issues and provide executive report
  • Develop client positions on relevant regulatory and public policy
  • Monitor and report on government, parliamentary and political party positions on key political and public policy issues
  • Take an active role in relationship building
  • Engage, mobilize, communicate and coordinate with 3rd party policy advocates
  • Build client and stake holders relations
  • Business presentation development
  • Engage in commercial negotiations in mining or supply chain
  • Writing weekly and monthly reports on topical issues
  • Develop content that will assist to communicate business initiatives internally and externally
  • Content generation - writing strategic stories of interest that positively position the business
  • Edit and manage communication content for the business
  • Responsible for tasks such as drafting and implementing communication policies
  • Drafting weekly newsletters
  • Organize PR events
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned
