Are you a strategic banking leader ready to drive growth, transformation, and meaningful impact in South Africa's agricultural sector?

A leading development finance institution is seeking an experienced and visionary Provincial Head: Commercial Banking & Transformation to lead its Western Cape provincial operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape regional strategy, drive commercial performance, and advance transformation within the agricultural economy.

You will play a pivotal leadership role in expanding the provincial loan portfolio, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and delivering innovative financial solutions that support both commercial agribusiness and emerging farmers across the value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Provincial Growth:

  • Lead the development and execution of the provincial business plan aligned to national strategy.
  • Drive portfolio growth and financial performance across lending and product solutions.
  • Implement integrated sales, relationship management, and portfolio expansion strategies.

Commercial Performance & Financial Sustainability:

  • Grow and maintain a healthy provincial loan book.
  • Monitor portfolio composition and ensure balanced short-, medium-, and long-term lending.
  • Manage cost-to-income performance to ensure sustainable financial outcomes.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, government structures, agricultural organisations, and community leaders.
  • Increase organisational visibility within the province through strategic engagement and marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure exceptional client relationship and experience management.

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee day-to-day provincial operations including sales, lending, service delivery, and support functions.
  • Ensure operational excellence, sound risk management, and adherence to governance standards.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Governance, Risk & Compliance:

  • Ensure robust risk management, compliance, and governance practices.
  • Manage provincial budgeting and financial controls.
  • Address audit findings and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Sciences, Banking, or a related field
  • 5-8 years' experience in Development Finance or Commercial Banking
  • 5-8 years' experience in credit/lending, financial analysis, and loan assessments
  • 2-3 years' leadership experience in roles such as Branch Manager or Sales Manager
