About the position
Is this you? You're a solution-focused mechanical mind with deep technical curiosity and strong commercial acumen. You enjoy client interaction, thrive on autonomy, and are energised by working in the field-uncovering real-world challenges and designing practical, efficient solutions. You understand how to navigate complex industrial environments, speak the language of engineers and procurement teams alike, and pride yourself on accuracy, detail and accountability. What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) You'll act as the technical-commercial bridge between client needs and high-value heating and refrigeration solutions. From the first site visit to final proposal handover, you'll lead every step: understanding customer processes, developing heat load summaries, selecting equipment, preparing precise costings, and negotiating proposals. You'll collaborate across internal teams-engineering, sales, service, and project delivery-to tailor each solution. Expect regular travel across Southern and Eastern Africa, varied project scopes, and the opportunity to influence critical infrastructure in industries like food processing, poultry, and brewing. Where you'll be doing it You'll join a globally respected industrial engineering firm with a strong footprint across Africa. Known for their expertise in sustainable thermal technology and natural refrigerants like ammonia and CO2, the team offers tailored, end-to-end solutions to blue-chip clients. Expect a professional but flat structure, international collaboration, and a strong emphasis on compliance, precision, and knowledge-sharing. The work is challenging, collaborative, and rewarding-with no two projects ever quite the same. What you'll need You'll need a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or trade certification in Industrial Refrigeration) along with 5+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration design, costing, and execution. Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and natural refrigerants like ammonia is essential. You should be confident using Excel, CAD, and technical selection tools (e.g. RT Select), and comfortable working with commercial contracts, proposal documentation, and technical site assessments. What you'll get A competitive salary, company car or allowance, flexible medical and retirement benefits, and a bonus structure linked to team performance. You'll enjoy the autonomy to run your own proposals, travel for site work, and be backed by strong systems, mentorship and international exposure.
