About the position
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a respected property development company and to oversee multiple building projects in the Durban region. This is an 18 month contract to start ASAP.
This role is ideal for a professional who can balance both commercial and project management responsibilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- 5–10 years’ relevant experience within property development or construction
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of contract administration (e.g., JBCC)
- Proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project) and cost management software
- Excellent financial acumen and commercial awareness
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee approximately five concurrent property development projects across eThekwini
- Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows
- Conduct cost planning, estimating, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage procurement processes, including tendering, adjudication, and contract administration
- Coordinate and manage contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders across multiple workstreams
- Track project progress against programme timelines and address any delays or risks
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, health & safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and cost control
- Prepare and present regular project and financial reports to senior management
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
