My client based in Johannesburg (Gauteng) is currently looking for a IT Project Manager (Supply Chain / SAP / Pharmaceutical) to join the on an initial 12 month contract
This role will be fully onsite / office based
Job Purpose
The Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of IT and business projects within the Group IT Portfolio. This role ensures the successful execution of initiatives that enhance business efficiency, optimise supply chain performance, and improve customer value. The incumbent will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage vendors, and ensure all projects-particularly SAP and enterprise system initiatives-are delivered within defined scope, budget, and timelines, while maintaining alignment with Group's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver IT and business projects across Supply Chain and Pharmaceutical environments in line with approved business cases.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs.
- Coordinate with internal teams (IT, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations) and external partners to ensure delivery excellence.
- Ensure project governance standards, templates, and reporting align with PMO requirements.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders and governance forums.
- Oversee vendor deliverables, ensuring contract compliance and timely milestone achievement.
- Drive key project phases including requirements gathering, solution design, build, testing (UAT), deployment, and post-implementation support.
- Facilitate change management, training, and communication to ensure business readiness and user adoption.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO through lessons learned and knowledge sharing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or Pharmaceutical Management (or related field).
- Formal Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or Agile certification).
Experience
- 3-5 years' experience managing IT and business projects, preferably within Supply Chain, Retail, or Pharmaceutical sectors.
- Proven track record in SAP or ERP implementation projects (e.g., SAP ECC, S/4HANA, MM, SD, WM, or related modules).
- Experience working within structured PMO and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, third-party providers, and system integrators.
- Familiarity with both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong project planning, scheduling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Teams, SharePoint).
- Good understanding of business processes across IT, Supply Chain, and Pharmaceutical operations.
- Financial management capabilities, including budget control and cost variance reporting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong risk management awareness.
- Working knowledge of SAP environments and integration points within the enterprise.
