What you will be doing:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Data-SMARTS initiative, managing timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Serve as the main point of contact between the core organization and other provincial and national stakeholders.
- Build trust and foster collaboration across all internal and external parties.
- Oversee and support the design, piloting, and refinement of all data collection tools and instruments.
- Lead the interpretation and analysis of educational data, translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights for provincial, district, and school-level officials.
- Work with external experts to ensure all tools and instruments meet specified minimum functional requirements.
- Design and lead structured training sessions and workshops for education officials.
- Act as a thought partner to government officials.
- Ensure the project's long-term sustainability by embedding skills and systems within government structures.
- Develop comprehensive training manuals and how-to tools for institutionalisation and scalability.
What our client is looking for:
- A relevant tertiary degree would be ideal (Economics, Education, Health, Public Policy, Data Science, International Development, Computer Science, etc.)
- 5 - 8 years experience in either project management, public sector support, education, or technology solution development.
- Hands-on experience in data analysis and digital tools (e.g., Stata, R, Power BI, SurveyCTO, or similar).
- Ability to analyse, visualise, and interpret complex datasets.
- Experience in monitoring & evaluation, education assessments (like EGRA, EGMA).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work in complex, dynamic, and evolving environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work sensitively and build relationships.
- Must be capable of working independently, managing ambiguity, and driving results collaboratively.
- Proficiency in an official South African language other than English (e.g., isiZulu, seSotho) is a distinct benefit.
