SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Responsible for the management and optimum utilization of resources for all projects to successfully meet therequirements set for the projects.
The Project Manager / Engineer will be responsible / accountable for a projector projects.
He will be the main contact point for the client and HO regarding the project.
He needs to be awareof all decisions taken / implemented that will impact the project deliverables such as budget, production, qualityschedule, etc.
The focus areas are: Contractual, Commercial, Engineering, Financial and Administrative.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Education National Diploma /B.Tech / B.Sc in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)and/or Construction / Project Management
Additional Qualifications
Registered as Professional Engineer Technician with ECSA Registered as a Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr.CPM) at SACPCMPPMI Registration preferable
Competency in NEC / FIDIC / JBCC contracts
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
10 years' experience in the construction, engineering, and consulting industry
relevant to electrical infrastructure sector.
The 5 years can be combined between the three disciplines listed above with two years in a management position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Project Management: Accountable for ensuring projects are successfully completed within the envisaged constrains, including time, budget, resource targets and set out quality standards.
- Responsible for project delivery from inception through to contract close.
- Conducts regular reviews to ensure compliance with the design, status, budget, quality of work and schedule of contract progress.
- Provides technical guidance to subordinates on all projects.
- Accountable for all engineering and logistic and commissioning activities on projects.
- Conducts regular inspections on plant and equipment, including log sheet inspections to ensure compliance with required statutory regulations.
- Responsible for communicating, delegating, implementation and successful execution of meeting resolutions.
- Management of all projects in accordance with set standards and uniformity.
- Ensure that all Commercial / Contractual / Financial / Administrative and Engineering duties required ona project is adhered to as per the client's contract / requirements.
- Project Planning: Defines the scope of the project in collaboration with project/contract managers.
- Responsible for planning of projects.
- Risk management and calculation-minimising of potential risks aggressors.
- Contract resource (all aspects) management and site capacity planning.
- Anticipates and addresses emerging issues that may impact contract milestones.
- Ensures that all sub-contractors and sub-contracting work being performed are following the contract specifications.
- People Management: In consultation with senior management, recruit, interview and select staff with appropriate skills for project activities.
- Manage project staff according to established policies and practices.
- Ensure that all project personnel receive appropriate orientation to the company and the project.
- In conjunction with human resources deals with all disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Ensure compliance to training required for different disciplines and projects
- Ultimately responsible to manage, maintain and present the Project Review to Management when required, and to ensure that the project achieves the set goals. It will be important to keep the CM informed on the status on the review data to ensure that the CM addresses the shortfalls during construction.
- Project Finance: Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures via monthly Project Reviews.
- Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on aregular basis.
- Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for senior management.
- Manage and monitor site expenses such as plant, materials, accommodation, rental plant and equipment,overtime, and all other resources, this will entail optimized, cost effective & timeous procurement,financial analysis of actuals versus allowable, accurate cash flow, invoicing, and remedial actions to align project finances as well as ensuring the GP% are achieved and enhanced.
- Responsible to ensure that invoicing is done monthly and that milestone payments are met.
- Ensure that the CM is fully aware of the project budgets/ targets / milestones and must ensure that it implemented on site.
- Technical & Design: Involved in product testing and factory acceptance testing to ensure product iscorrect for client requirements.
- Responsible for any designs / design reviews / design facilitation & co-ordination required on the project.
- Responsible for the technical and engineering compliance of the project.
- Facilitate all engineering related issues but will ensure that the CM is fully informed of any changes and amendments.
- Ensure that the CM is in possession of the latest construction drawings and documents.
- Responsible to facilitate the entire design review and approval process.
- Ensure that documents are properly recorded and archived.
- Ensure that the CM is fully informed on the progress and updates pertaining to design document ation utilized on site.
- Business Development, SHE compliance, Stakeholder management, tendering including providing technical input, tender review, compile baseline schedule and ensure technical compliance.
- Contractual & Commercial: Ensure Contractual compliance of the project.
- It will be his/her duties to ensure all contractual documentation is submitted, maintained, and implemented and that the project is managed according to the set contractual guidelines of the project.
- Ensure that the CM is informed of the contractual requirements of the project and must ensure that theCM complies.
- Ensure that the company is not exposed (MANAGE, MITIGATE, MONITOR RISK) to any form of risk regarding the Contractual / Commercial requirements of the project and must inform the EXCO shouldany risk or concern arise.
