Project Estimator

About the position

A Well - Established Company in Kempton Park seeks a Project Estimator to join their team
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in preparing detailed and accurate sales quotations and project proposals.
• Develop independent quotations after completion of the probation period.
• Assist with schematic and layout drawings based on client and sales specifications.
• Perform site layout measurements and define reticulation layouts (water, electrical, and infrastructure).
• Conduct detailed cost estimations for materials such as steel, panels, concrete, and structural components.
• Perform site inspections and measurements where required for accurate costing.
• Update and maintain supplier pricing lists, cost databases, and pricing matrices.
• Calculate landed costs and prepare pricing for specialised or complex quotations.
• Support the engineering and projects team with technical costing and capex estimates.
• Collaborate with sales and customers to ensure clear understanding of project scope and pricing.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and analyse budget variances on projects.
• Assist with general technical and administrative duties within the estimating department.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• BTech / BSc in Civil Engineering or a related technical qualification (advantageous)
• Previous experience in estimating, construction, engineering, or technical project support
• Exposure to costing, quotations, or quantity surveying principles (advantageous)
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (essential)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Basic understanding of construction materials and engineering principles
• Strong numerical and analytical ability
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• High attention to detail and accuracy
