About the position
Our client, a leading mining company is looking to appoint a Project Advisor to join their team for a long-term contract based in Kathu, Northern Cape.
The main purpose of this role is to support the project construction lifecycle (onboarding to close-out) and coordinate the various departments and cross functions involved in operational project construction execution.
REQUIREMENTS:
- National Diploma in Project Management or any of the technical fields (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical (NQF6)
- Degree in Project Management or any of the technical fields (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical) (Preferred)
- Must have own vehicle and a Valid Driver's License
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management in an advisory capacity.
- Advanced knowledge of Project Management.
- Advanced knowledge of construction (preferably brown fields), processing, or engineering industry.
- Advanced computer literacy (MS Office, Projects, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects).
- Foundational knowledge of ISO 21500 project management guidelines and a high-level project management framework.
- Foundational skills in using financial metrics, cost, value management and budgeting tools.
- Foundational skills in identifying and implementing business improvement opportunities and projects at construction projects.
- Competent in strategy implementation and business planning.
- Competent with the application of change management methodologies.
- Competent in written and verbal communication.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safety, Health, and Environment
- Adhere to all health and safety practices and requirements.
- Support good housekeeping in the broader department and on-site.
- Participate in safety initiatives (e.g. VFLs, HRWVs, FRMs) as required.
- Performance and Delivery
- Assist and support line management in project construction execution to align with project and organisational strategies.
- Review and drive optimisation opportunities regarding project scope and cost.
- Manage on-site contractors to execute the construction per contract, schedule, and budget. Manage Operations to shut down integration between the Project Contractors and mine operations.
- Review and develop new and optimise existing method statements, job risk assessments and other construction documentation, and project systems and procedures to align with project DAF and project work procedures.
- Coordinate and facilitate new project construction call orders and Project management Instructions to contractors to formulate execution and procurement strategies.
- Ensure the best fit-for-purpose solutions regarding technical compliance and critical risks.
- Provide quality assurance concerning documentation, reporting, and compliance with standards.
- Report and facilitate feedback sessions between the Project teams, contractors, and mine owners' teams.
- Ensure adherence to governance regarding procurement, tender evaluation, adjudication, and order placement.
- Demonstrate optimised project cost and scope execution on projects during the construction execution phase.
- Strong stakeholder management between cross-functional departments to ensure project delivery.
- Ensure adherence to standards and procedures (SHE) during project execution through relevant sections and departments.
- Drive and assist in the call order end and Project Management Instructions closure completion.
- Monitor and track progress to ensure project delivery and adherence to scope, cost, timeline, and quality.
- Daily, Weekly and Monthly updates and feedback sessions related to relevant construction activities.
- Outputs:
- Controlled contractor activities within the governance framework of the Project.
- Optimised and efficient utilisation of resources to align with the project scope and schedule.
- Well-structured and facilitated all new project calls, orders, and Project Management instructions.
- Fit-for-purpose solutions regarding technical compliance and critical risks.
- Provide quality assurance concerning documentation, reporting, and compliance with standards.
- Report and facilitate feedback sessions between the Project teams, contractors, and mine owners' teams.
- Compliance and adherence to governance regarding procurement, tender evaluation, adjudication, and order placement.
- Successful stakeholder management between cross-functional departments to ensure project delivery.
- Compliance with standards and procedures (SHE) during project execution through relevant sections and departments.
- Closed out project call orders and Project management Instructions upon completion.
- Tracked and monitored progress to ensure project delivery and adherence to scope, cost, timeline, and quality.
