About the position
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Programme Manager to lead strategic programmes that deliver measurable business outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, can translate strategy into execution, and has a proven track record of managing cross-functional initiatives from inception through to successful delivery and stabilization's a contract role and based in Cape town
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with executive sponsors and key stakeholders to define programme objectives, scope, outcomes, success measures, and governance structures.
- Shape and structure strategic initiatives by clarifying requirements, validating assumptions, and developing executable delivery plans.
- Develop and manage programme roadmaps, budgets, resource plans, milestones, and governance frameworks.
- Lead large-scale programmes or multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring delivery remains aligned to business objectives.
- Coordinate activities across business, operational, technology, and support teams.
- Manage risks, issues, dependencies, scope changes, and stakeholder expectations throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Facilitate steering committees, workshops, and governance forums to drive decision-making and maintain momentum.
- Provide clear and concise progress reporting to senior leadership and programme sponsors.
- Ensure business readiness through change management, communication, training, process enhancement, and operational transition planning.
- Oversee implementation, stabilization, and benefits Realisation to ensure sustainable business value.

Requirements
- Proven experience leading complex business programmes or strategic transformation initiatives from initiation to implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to convert high-level strategic objectives into structured programmes with measurable outcomes.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders across business, operational, and technology environments.
- Strong programme governance, budgeting, planning, risk management, and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to drive accountability without direct authority.
- Strong facilitation, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and evolving business environments.
- Experience in retail, eCommerce, customer experience, digital transformation, or omnichannel environments will be advantageous.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred.
- Programme or Project Management certification such as MSP, PgMP, PMP, or PRINCE2 advantageous.
- Experience in Change-Management, Process Improvement, or Business Transformation highly desirable.
