About the position
Our client is seeking a Water Engineer who is professionally registered as a Pr Eng and has over 10 years’ experience in designing water infrastructure, managing contracts, and compiling technical reports.
You will lead a team of engineers, manage large-scale projects, and work on grant-funded initiatives like MIG, WSIG, and RBIG.

Minimum requirements:
- Minimum BSc or B Eng Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must be professionally registered with ECSA as a Pr Eng.
- Have a minimum of ten years’ practical experience in the design of water infrastructure, contract management, quality monitoring, report writing, and tender documentation.
- Lead and train a team of engineers and plan work breakdown structures that align with the company’s internal cash flow projections.
- Manage GCC, JBCC, and NEC Contracts and handle claims.
- Compile reports for all stages of project implementation, including inception reports, design reports, and business plans or feasibility studies.
- Work on grant-funded projects such as MIG, WSIG, and RBIG.
- Compile technical reports, business plans, and project management documentation.
- Have experience in Water/Sanitation master plans, WSDPs, and NRW Management Plans.
- Be proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, iDAS, and Wadiso or Epanet. Experience in Revit and Surge design software is beneficial.
- Experience in NRW and WC, or WDM projects, is an added advantage.
- Communicate verbally and in writing in English. Proficiency in isiZulu is advantageous.
- Hold a minimum Code B (08) driver’s license.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers in the Water Design Centre.
- Design water infrastructure, including bulk pipelines, pump stations, boreholes, water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, and control valves.
- Prepare reports for all stages of project implementation, including inception, feasibility or business plans, concept and viability, design development, tender and procurement, and close-out.
- Manage contracts and projects, including interaction with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, attendance of progress meetings, preparation of payment certificates, and handling contractual claims.
- Manage staff, including supervision of drawings, designs, and reports, and plan work breakdown structures that align with the company’s internal cash flow projections.
- Prepare invoices for all projects under the Water Design Centre.
- Prepare tender documentation, including specification writing, bills of quantities, and drawings.
- Liaise with clients and participate in marketing activities.
- Liaise with contractors, other disciplines and various other stakeholders.
