About the position
Hire Resolve's client, a well-established and multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm known for delivering innovative solutions to infrastructure and building projects, is currently seeking a Professional Structural Engineer to join their Structural Department based in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for a technically proficient, experienced, and professionally registered engineer who is passionate about delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions across a range of complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual and detailed structural designs on multiple complex projects.
- Deliver effective, efficient engineering solutions using modern design software and first principle hand calculations.
- Compile technical reports and provide input on bids and commercial aspects of projects.
- Supervise engineers or technicians, perform inspections of constructed works, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Manage and coordinate project tasks, teams, and sub-consultants.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and financial planning for projects.
- Develop client relationships, ensure satisfaction, and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Submit EOIs, RFQs, tenders, and proposals.
- Mentor junior staff and graduates.
- Monitor project delivery to ensure timelines and budgets are met.
- Provide technical support to internal departments and contribute to multidisciplinary project success.
- Assist with marketing and development to generate new work and expand departmental reach.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional registration (ECSA PrEng or equivalent).
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 2-3 years post-registration.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical and project reports.
- Strong command of structural design software and hand-calculation methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of project financials, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Proven leadership in managing teams and delivering projects.
- A professional demeanor that aligns with the company's image.
