Professional Quantity Surveyor (NEC experience)

About the position

Hire Resolve's client, a well-established quantity surveying and construction consultancy providing professional cost management and project services, is currently seeking a Professional Quantity Surveyor to join their team in KwaDlangezwa, KwaZulu-Natal.

The ideal candidate will be a mature, experienced professional who is available to start immediately. NEC contract experience is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee quantity surveying functions across construction and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review bills of quantities, cost estimates, valuations and payment certificates.
• Conduct cost planning, cost control and financial reporting throughout project lifecycles.
• Manage project budgets and monitor expenditure against approved costs.
• Administer construction contracts and provide commercial advice to project stakeholders.
• Apply NEC contract principles and manage contractual processes effectively.
• Review contractor claims, variations, extensions of time and associated cost implications.
• Conduct site visits and assess progress, work completed and financial performance.
• Prepare tender documentation, evaluate tenders and provide procurement support.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate project records and ensure compliance with relevant professional and contractual standards.

Requirements

• BSc/BTech/BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Professional registration with SACQSP as a Professional Quantity Surveyor.
• Proven professional experience in quantity surveying.
• NEC contract experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management and commercial administration.
• Experience in preparing valuations, payment certificates, variations and final accounts.
• Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project requirements.
• A mature and professional approach to client and stakeholder relationships.
• Available to start immediately will be advantageous.
