Professional Officer: HICD at NRF National Research Foundation

About the position

Postion Summary:
The Human and Infrastructure Capacity Development (HICD) Directorate of the NRF is responsible for developing institutional research capabilities and infrastructure in parallel with the appropriate human capital to drive the research and development strategies within the South African National System of Innovation (NSI). The NRF seeks to appoint a Professional Officer within the HICD Directorate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the implementation and management of funding instruments and initiatives directed at emerging researchers and postdoctoral research fellows in order to facilitate the transition of this cohort to a demographically representative established researcher cohort Liaising with internal and external stakeholders Drafting of promotional material, strategic documents, frameworks and reportsImplementation, monitoring and evaluation of business processesOrganise and coordinate events such as workshops, conferences and symposiaFinancial reporting and monitoringContract administrationDevelop, update and maintain databasesDocument managementData analytics

Minimum Qualification:

• Honours Degree / Post Graduate Qualification / Professional Qualification / NQF 8

Minimum Experience:

• 3-5 years

• A post graduate degree or equivalent qualification
• A Master’s degree will be an advantage and is preferredA minimum of three years of relevant work experienceResearch administration experience

Experience:

• Critical thinking and analytical skillsTime management and problem solving skillsReport writing and presentation skillsProject management skillsFinancial management Computer proficiency

Knowledge:

• An understanding of the South African Science and Higher Education landscape and understanding of the South African National System of InnovationGood communication and interpersonal skillsStrong team player with the ability to work under pressure
