ENERGY - ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION - ADVANCED DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
PROFESSIONAL OFFICER
BASIC SALARY: R532 737 TO R635 305 PER ANNUM - REF NO: NRG 134/25
Requirements:
- Relevant professional ICT qualification, preferably BTech or BSc degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems
- Two (2) to five (5) years' relevant post-qualification experience in IT/OT networking and network security engineering
- Valid Code B or EB driver's licence.
Key performance areas:
- Monitor all internal and external network activity, using best practice such as the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) application and logs and reporting the status to the SPO
- Configure and monitor all internal and external OT/IT connectivity
- Support in managing Linux servers, Windows servers and VMware operating systems ensuring latest necessary patches are applied according to Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) vendor's requirements
- Support the SPO in developing, maintaining and enforcing the Cyber Security Policy and related SOPs to ensure the security and integrity of the ADMS is in line with best practice and legislative requirements, including the disaster recovery and Anti-Virus environments
- Manage the ADMS databases including support, upgrades, maintenance, replacement, decommissioning, licensing, replication, and backups
- Maintain and evolve the entire ADMS OT network including all the network appliances so that the service is available continuously, all year round
- Maintain advanced proficiency in database management, security systems, office automation, firewalling, intrusion detection, and backup methodologies
- Ensure systems are secure, efficient, and up to date by liaising with application vendors on new releases and coordinating timely implementation of updates
- Conduct regular health checks on network infrastructure and appliances to ensure system stability
- Provide SAP support including creation of purchase requisitions, GRNs, work orders, and purchase orders. Assist Operations and City staff in resolving OT system, workstation, and Thin Client connectivity issues to maintain continuous availability of the OT environment.
